Monte Aloia Natural Park
A treasure by the Minho
The natural park offers spectacular flora, viewpoints, routes and heritage.
The O Galiñeiro mountain range, in the south of the province of Pontevedra, is home to the Monte Aloia Nature Reserve, an area located in an extraordinary vantage point over 600 metres high in the surroundings of Tui, with a spectacular view over the Miño river. This area of great scenic beauty became the first Natural Park in Galicia in 1978.
Autochthonous species intermingle with other exotic species on Mount Aloia. Cork oaks, cypresses, holly, firs and Lebanon cedars, among other species, become the true protagonists of the place, accompanying visitors along the way. Heritage and nature embrace each other in this beautiful enclave that has a walled enclosure from the Galician-Roman period and a small hermitage dedicated to Saint Xián, where there is a splendid carballeira.

Various hiking routes invite you to discover this great natural space, which is home to five viewpoints that are perfectly integrated into the landscape. All of them offer a marvellous view over the largest river in Galicia. Mount Aloia, due to its strategic position, has served as a refuge and defence from the various invasions that these lands have suffered throughout history, especially during the Middle Ages.
The park's forest house has been converted into an interpretation centre. A visit to the site is the perfect way to discover the origins of this beautiful place.
