Ons Islands

Opposite the Pontevedra estuary is this beautiful archipelago made up of the islands of Ons, Onza and the islet of As Freitosas. This place hides incredible beaches, sea caves and spectacular cliffs such as the impressive Buraco do Inferno. A beautiful lighthouse guards the island of Ons, which has a small rural nucleus inhabited with typical seafaring houses, hórreos (raised granaries) and a small church in honour of San Xaquín. Cortegada Island

A laurel forest in the middle of the Arousa estuary? The island of Cortegada, separated by barely 200 metres from the coast of O Carril (Vilagarcía de Arousa), is home to the largest laurel forest in Spain, a real jewel of nature. In this beautiful island enclave, particularly leafy, centenary trees coexist with native tree species such as oaks, pines and willows.
