This 17th-century manor house, established by Álvaro Núñez Taboada, is where writer Emilia Pardo Bazán used to enjoy long stays in the company of the Taboada family. It was inhabited until the beginning of the 20th century, although during the 19th century it was already only being used as a summer residence. The house is shaped in the form of an L and its row of balconies is one of the main features. In the exterior there is a chapel, the servants’ houses, two ovens, a shed, an hórreo (traditional raised granary) and a dovecote. It was acquired by the Council of Lalín in 2002 and declared Property of Cultural Interest by the Regional Department of Culture. After a large restoration it was returned to its former splendour, especially to what it was during the 19th century. Today it has grown into a sociocultural space of multidisciplinary use that houses the Castro Culture Archaeological Knowledge Management Centre (CXCA)
