The estuary of the Minho River is situated in the southwest of the province of Pontevedra and extends for approximately 15 km. It is in the municipalities of A Guarda and O Rosal and serves as a natural border between Spain and Portugal. It consists of one of the most biologically diverse natural areas of Galicia, with the freshwater and marine ecosystems being the two largest environments in the area.
